Matilda Black
Young Jo
Matilda is a vibrant, neurodivergent young performer with a natural love for storytelling, movement, and music. At 7 (going on 8), she brings curiosity, humor, and genuine warmth to everything she touches, whether it’s a performance, a conversation, or simply walking into a room. With ADHD as part of her wiring, Matilda sees the world through a wonderfully unique lens: observant, emotionally in tune, and always ready to play.
She loves animals, singing, dancing, and being around people. Often the unofficial “welcome committee” on any set or stage, Matilda has an intuitive sense for lifting the energy of a space and connecting with others. She’s not a full-time actor, but you wouldn’t know it from watching her in the short film From Matilda, she delivered a magnetic, honest performance that stole every frame she was in. Matilda is the daughter of filmmaker and performer Mele Black, and she shares her mother’s creative spirit, big heart, and expressive soul.
